Before laying the floor:-
After the timber flooring packs are delivered
1/. Check the cover widths of the boards. If they vary by more than 1mm, this may also be a sign of possible differences in moisture content between boards at the time of machining or the packs may have become wet. If the cover widths of boards vary by more than 1mm, do not lay the floor.
2/. Check boards for any cupping. This may be a sign of possible moisture content variations within the board at the time of machining or the packs may have become wet. This may lead to future problems. If there is any cupping of boards, do not lay the floor.
3/. Check the moisture content of the floor. Check that this moisture content is appropriate for the application and/or geographical location of the floor. More info.
4/. Lay and cramp the floor as appropriate for the moisture content of the flooring boards and application and/or geographical location. More info.
